SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Admissions Counselor is an integral component of the Converse College Admissions team and requires an enthusiastic, high-energy individual who is determined to meet the College’s enrollment goals. The individual must be committed to personal attention and follow-up with candidates and must be adept at matching candidate’s needs with Converse College’s offerings. The individual will be responsible for developing a plan of action to achieve school (target population) goals and represents Converse College at off-site events such as college fairs and on-campus functions. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: The Admissions Counselor has major responsibility for setting and implementing a comprehensive vision for their determined target population. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Goals ▪ Achieve goals set by the Director of Admissions ▪ Manage the recruitment of students in designated regions ▪ Prepare and deliver reports to the Director of Admissions as required Travel ▪ Manage all aspects of recruitment travel including scheduling, transportation and accommodations in accordance with college-wide travel policies ▪ Attend college fairs and complete a report for each fair ▪ Schedule private visits to selected high schools and complete a report for each visit in Jenzabar EX ▪ Host receptions for school counselors and prospective students in targeted areas ▪ Attend alumnae events in recruitment region Visitor management ▪ Attend all campus preview days/admissions events ▪ Interview and tour families who visit the campus as needed ▪ Plan and execute designated sessions at on-campus events as needed ▪ Work Saturdays during the on-call season Communication ▪ Establish, develop, and maintain communication throughout the college admission process with prospective students, families, school counselor and educational community partners through phone, email, direct mail, interviews, presentations and social media ▪ Assist in the development and implementation of a strategic communication for admissions counselors in collaboration with the Enrollment Marketing and Communications Strategist ▪ Make daily personal contact with prospective students and parents through mail, email, and telephone and report each contact in Jenzabar EX ▪ Provide extensive tele-counseling at night ▪ Build relationships with school counselors and alumnae in the designated recruitment area ▪ Facilitate contact between prospective students and faculty/staff/current students/alumnae Financial Planning ▪ Attend high school hosted Financial Aid and Planning events ▪ Follow up with in-depth phone calls to offer additional counseling to students and families during the critical Financial Planning spring season ▪ Schedule and attend one-on-one Financial Planning meetings with families to answer questions regarding the FAFSA, Financial Planning, and Loans Other Responsibilities ▪ Responsible for the recruitment of students from the assigned territory ▪ All other reasonable duties assigned by the Director of Admissions ▪ Adhere to Converse College, Conference, and NCAA policies and procedures ▪ Compliance with the College’s Service Expectations JOB SPECIFICATIONS: ▪ Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university required ▪ One-year of admissions experience preferred ▪ Strong written and verbal communication skills ▪ Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint ▪ Ability to exhibit strong customer service skills for all levels of College constituencies and members of the public ▪ Ability to take appropriate steps to promote and sustain effective working relationships within a diverse multicultural environment ▪ Ability to speak one-on-one and with small and large groups ▪ Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends as well as extensive travel during designated times of the year ▪ Valid driver’s license DISCLAIMER: The preceding job description has been designed to indicate the general nature and essential duties and responsibilities of work performed by employees within this classification.
