The Associate Registrar directs the registration process for new and continuing students. This person administers the schedule of registration; designs publications; assesses registration processes and develops and implements new processes or changes to it as assessment indicates; directs changes to the student database; reviews technical problems and corrects them or assigns them to ITCS programming staff for correction. This position also reviews and participates in the ongoing updates to Banner and its underlying systems, participating and leading appropriate areas of upgrades. The Associate Registrar is responsible for continually developing appropriate training materials and training campus faculty, staff and students on new registration procedures and evaluating the effectiveness of the materials and training. The Associate Registrar has direct interaction with students, staff and faculty through these trainings and other engagements outside of a formal classroom setting. The Associate Registrar is responsible for supervising several records areas including Veteran Affairs, continuing student and military residency coordination, transcripts, enrollment verification and student record updates. Student record updates include grade changes, semester/session withdrawal entry, grade replacements and record adjustments under the forgiveness readmissions policy. The Associate Registrar designs and administers training for faculty and staff on the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA); creates training for the office as new procedures and interpretations of FERPA are provided from the U.S. Department of Education; develops and directs sessions for students on their rights under FERPA; review software requests across campus along with ITCS for FERPA compliance; and perform other duties as assigned. The Associate Registrar serves as a primary contact for all faculty, staff and students for all FERPA related inquiries. This position is responsible for educating parents and incoming students on FERPA during all Summer Orientation sessions. The Associate Registrar independently makes hiring decisions and has direct supervision of SHRA staff. The Associate Registrar independently makes hiring decisions and has direct supervision of temporary and/or student staff for long or short term projects. The Associate Registrar is responsible for creating and completing training on new developments and additions to the student information system (Banner). The Associate Registrar engages in maintaining and cultivating processes in the student information system. This position exercises extensive independent judgment in developing, designing and administering programs and processes, and has the authority to commit the office and the University to decisions made. The Associate Registrar collaborates closely with the University Attorney’s Office and is responsible for compiling responses to the U.S. Department of Education regarding FERPA issues and complaints. The Associate Registrar serves as a voting member of the University’s Exceptions Committee, the Tuition Refund Appeals Committee, Data Security Committee, and represents the University Registrar on multiple task forces and subcommittees across campus.

Minimum Education/Experience	
A master’s degree with experience working in higher education.

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education	
Five years’ experience working in a registrar’s office. Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the use of complex database systems, knowledge and experience in the enforcement of the Family Educational Rights and privacy Act (FERPA).
