The primary function of the position will include admissions recruitment for all five arts conservatories/schools. Assigned to a specific arts conservatory, the Counselor is responsible for planning executing targeted recruitment initiatives, in collaboration with the conservatory, to meet enrollment targets. The position will analyze requests and needs as the first point of contact for prospective student and families. In addition, the position will cultivate prospects, applicants, and admitted students through direct participation in a variety of activities, articulate admissions procedures and requirements to prospective students, parents, counselors, and other influencers, evaluate credentials and work with the arts conservatories/schools to arrange auditions/interviews and make decisions regarding individual’s candidacies for admission to UNCSA, and positively affect admitted student’s decision to matriculate to UNCSA. The counselor will be tasked with traveling to local and regional high schools, community colleges, performing and visual arts college fairs, and national college fairs. The counselor works as part of the admission’s team in planning and implementing open houses and campus tours, the scheduling of student workers and ambassadors, and other duties as assigned. Some evening and weekend hours will be required. Minimum Qualifications Minimum of a bachelor’s degree required. Ability to handle multiple demands easily to make independent decisions when interpreting policy. Ability to make research-based decisions regarding the potential for success of specific recruitment initiatives. Ability to demonstrate outstanding customer service and public speaking skills. Must have a valid driver’s license. Preferred Qualifications • Admissions and/or experience working in a university setting. • Experience providing customer service in a fast-paced work environment, • Ability to handle a high volume of telephone inquiries, • Excellent oral and written communication skills, • Experience working with a customer relationship management system (i.e. Radius, Slate, Salesforce, etc.)
