The mission of Alder Graduate School of Education is to create opportunity and cultivate success for every student by recruiting and educating excellent teachers and leaders who reflect our schools’ communities. We offer a teacher residency program that provides students with the opportunity to earn a Master’s degree and teaching credential in one year and apprentice with an experienced mentor teacher four days a week in a partner school. Since 2010 we have educated over 200 teachers across California and Memphis, and data show that our graduates are more effective from day one as teachers, stay in the profession longer, and their demographics more closely mirror those of the K-12 students they serve—two thirds of our students hail from historically underrepresented communities.

The Memphis Recruiter & Student Services Manager is a dynamic, multi-part position responsible for:
1) Leading Alder’s rigorous recruiting efforts to build a pipeline of highly diverse and qualified candidates for the Alder Teacher Residency in Memphis, ensuring that Alder’s vision of developing significantly more great teachers becomes a reality.
2) Collaborating with the recruitment team to execute all Alder admissions and placement processes.
3) Developing partnerships and pursuing collaboration opportunities with organizations that share related missions.
4) Supporting Alder student services for Memphis residents, and
5) Supporting Alder’s use of social media and the web to build brand awareness and engagement, and interest in Alder’s programs.

 Develop and implement an effective, mission aligned recruitment plan that supports Alder’s overall recruitment strategy, in order to recruit residents for the Alder Teacher Residency in Memphis.
 Engage in outreach and audience building – plan, implement, and expand upon Alder’s current recruitment strategies and tactics, with a focus on building an applicant pool that mirrors the demographics of the communities in which residents will teach and lead.
 Build and manage relationships: identify, establish, and strengthen partnerships with current staff, alumni, professors, community leaders, other organizations, and the larger education community to create referral networks and build pipelines of talented candidates.
 Strategically use data to continuously improve: develop expertise and consistently use data tools and systems to collect data, track progress toward goals, and inform efforts; share at team meetings.
 Plan and run well attended events: information sessions, webinars, meetings, and networking events; attend career fairs and panels; coordinate school visits and meetings with prospective candidates.
 Manage communications and follow up: proactively initiate email, text, and phone communications to high-needs/high potential prospects and applicants; provide professional, timely, and consistent follow up before and after events, and during prospective and applicant stages.
 Collaborate weekly with recruitment team on recruitment best practices and candidate management.

 Oversee the residency admissions process in Memphis (screening, recommendations, interviewing, ongoing communication, admission decisions, processing, and placement) to ensure a fully enrolled class of residents.
 Lead activities and events with current residents and alumni to deepen cohort engagement, team cohesion, and program loyalty during the residency year.
 Support the execution of Alder’s AmeriCorps TN grant and related activities.

 Support the use of social media and web channels nationally to build and sustain brand awareness and interest among potential students, alumni, partners, and influencers.
 Ensure that digital strategy aligns with Alder’s larger communications strategy.

 Work with the Alder team to reflect on current programs and strategies, analyze data on performance outcomes, and continuously adapt and improve
 Contribute as requested to accreditation activities

 Track record of using data to improve processes and outcomes
 Past success using social media and other digital channels for recruiting and/or marketing purposes
 Ability to work in ambiguous, complex, and rapidly changing environments
 Passion for graduate schools of education and their communities
 Enthusiasm for Alder’s mission and vision
 Desire to make a lasting contribution to the teaching profession

2) Minimum educational level:
 Bachelor’s degree required
 Master’s degree a plus

3) Experience required:
 Minimum of 3 years of experience and success in related roles
