Purpose of Position The Commencement/Athletics Certification Coordinator is responsible for calculating and reporting the academic eligibility status of Division II student-athletes for certification. Will be expected to research, implement, and assess NCAA rules, and work closely with the Athletics Department and Assistant Athletic Director of Compliance to develop procedures and institute best practices. This role will also facilitate other advanced and complex activities related to the Registrar's Office such as coordinating commencement ceremonies, which will involve event planning and coordinating with vendors and production personnel. Essential Functions Review student records to determine athletic eligibility and assess necessary action steps for students to maintain athletic eligibility. Ensure that all certifications for both initial and continuing academic eligibility have been performed correctly, and with adequate documentation. Monitors full-time status and satisfactory academic progress for student athletes for NCAA eligibility. Coordinate the overall planning, implementation, and evaluation of commencement ceremonies. Oversee commencement budget, invoicing, requests for proposals, and procurement. Maintain current knowledge regarding the NCAA and conference rules related to academic eligibility, transfer requirements, and restrictions and enforcement procedures. Communicate possible NCAA infractions to the Athletic Compliance staff. Serve as the liaison between the Office of the Registrar and commencement committee chairs. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with University personnel and representatives of other outside agencies for commencement ceremonies and services. Communicate and coordinate vendor services and deadlines. Create and document commencement processes and procedures, research best practices and keep up with current trends. Coordinate the overall planning, implementation, and evaluation of commencement ceremonies. Oversee commencement budget, invoicing, requests for proposals, and procurement.
