The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) is seeking an Associate Vice Chancellor (AVS) for Student Affairs & Enrollment Services (SAES). This position reports directly to the Vice Chancellor for Academic, Faculty, and Student Affairs (AFSA) and is the chief student affairs officer for the campus. The AVS provides executive leadership and vision in administering a comprehensive range of programs and services for the students represented in our six colleges. The AVS delivers inspirational leadership by creating a collaborative and collegial environment that supports excellence in education through SAES services.

Position Description
The Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs & Enrollment Services is responsible for the overall functioning and performance of the UTHSC Office of Student Affairs & Enrollment Services, providing day-to-day leadership and direction with respect to policies, practices, systems and operations in the Office of Admissions, Financial Aid Office, Health Career Programs, One Stop Shop, and Student Life. The AVC is responsible for ensuring the SAES is able to provide integrated and comprehensive quality services that enhance student access, progression, learning, success, leadership, and community outreach throughout the student lifecycle and beyond.

The Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs & Enrollment Services will:
• Provide leadership and oversight for the student affairs services in support of the Colleges.
• Provide leadership and supervision for the planning, organization, and coordination of the student affairs departments while achieving institutional goals and objectives.
• Provide leadership, guidance and support to the Student Government Association Executive Council and other student leaders across campus.
• Establish and implement short and long-range organizational goals, objectives, strategic plans, policies, and operating procedures for SAES; monitor and evaluate programmatic and operational effectiveness, and effect changes required for improvement.
• Direct resource utilization for SAES in collaboration with the Vice Chancellor for AFSA.
• Be responsible for the hiring, retention, professional development and evaluation of staff within SAES.
• Organize work flow and process improvements within the SAES units.
• Coordinate enrollment, registration and awarding of scholarships and loans.
• Provide leadership in the processing of degrees, Honor Council training, and oversee commencement ceremonies.
• Communicate effectively with both internal and external constituencies.
• Oversee effective student affairs services in collaboration with appropriate college-level administrators.
• Serve as co-chair of the CARE team (behavioral intervention team).
• Ensure the proper compliance with University, UT System, THEC and governmental policies and procedures.
• Provide timely and accurate reports as required by campus, state, and federal auditors.
• Perform other duties as required.

Qualities and Qualifications
• Earned doctorate (EdD; PhD; DBA) or doctorate in health science field.
• At least five years of experience in higher education and at least two years of oversight of one or more of the areas of responsibility for the present position.
• An understanding of, and familiarity with, student information systems and online processing of student materials.
• Solid communication skills and the ability to interact with a broad range of constituents including students, staff, faculty, and the local community.
• Understanding of and commitment to issues related to diversity.
• Experience with health science academic programs is preferred.

UTHSC is a stand-alone medical campus and has six colleges—Dentistry, Graduate Health Sciences, Health Professions, Medicine, Nursing and Pharmacy. As the flagship statewide public academic health system in Tennessee, it is home to more than 3,000 students and 1,300 residents and fellows. UTHSC offers four undergraduate and more than 30 graduate or professional degrees. The core Memphis teaching hospitals include Methodist UT Hospital, Regional One Health, Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital and the Memphis VA Medical Center. Instructional sites are located in Memphis (the home campus), Nashville, Knoxville and Chattanooga.
