In support of this mission, the Office of the Registrar invites qualified applicants to apply for the position of Advisor and Degree Auditor.

• Provide academic advising to undeclared, pre-business and pre-economics major students and to students changing majors
• Assist students in forming both academic and career goals
• Monitor students’ academic progress
• Follow up with undeclared, pre-business and pre-economics major students throughout the semester to identify any concerns, including but not limited to academic difficulties and college adjustment; recommend corrective action or campus resources as appropriate
• Create programming to teach the value of the undeclared major and undeclared students’ success to identified populations, publications and other venues as appropriate
• Coordinate a learning community for undeclared students including but not limited to: creating marketing materials, soliciting students and instructors, planning and implementing special events, assessing student learning and satisfaction outcomes, etc.
• Represent the Registrar’s Office at orientation and recruitment events
• Assist students with transitioning to an academic program
• Attend professional development to stay current on trends in higher education and information on how to develop and serve the undeclared student population
• Serve as degree auditor for a cohort of declared students; track progress toward degree, process transfer credits, monitor and track progress toward graduation, process degree applications and award degrees
• Utilize DegreeWorks and CAPP software to ensure accuracy of student degree audits, test systems against curriculum changes
• Partner with academic departments for product knowledge and transfer that knowledge back to ensure all degree auditors are current on academic programs and expectations to best serve students
• Other duties as assigned

• Master’s Degree
• Experience working with students to plan academic success using degree audit tool
• Experience working in higher education or experience through practicum/internship
• Service as an academic advisor preferred
• Work experience with Banner Student Module preferred
• Work experience with Degree Works preferred
• Work experience in the analysis of curriculum and academic transcripts at institutions of higher learning preferred
• Work experience with document or data imaging programs and tools preferred
• Experience with creating and analyzing reports and data
• Strong verbal communication skills including regular presentation to large and small audiences
• Leadership skills to develop/deliver programs and measure outcomes
• Ability to excel in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment

Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Commonwealth of Virginia benefits accompany this position. A successful criminal background check is required.
